Obituary of William G. Lewis

William G. "Pappy" Lewis, 73, of Hopatcong, passed away on Saturday July 4, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover Campus. Born in Bloomfield, on May 9, 1942 to the late Edwin and Marabelle Lewis, Bill resided in Lake Hopatcong and Mine Hill before moving to Hopatcong 40 years ago. Bill was a proud veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps 2nd Marine division for four years. He was at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban crisis. He was a longtime member of the Maverick's Motorcycle Club of Budd Lake and supporter of the National Rifle Association. He worked as a concrete truck driver for Colonial Concrete in Newark. Bill was predeceased by his twin sons, William and Mark. Survivors include his daughters, Dawn Marie Roses her husband, Peter their sons Charles and William Cowger and, Christopher Riefler, Tracy Lewis, her 2 children Tameka Lewis and Lucas Gardner. He is also survived by his brother, David , his wife, Jane, and sister, Kathy Bayait . There are also his six stepchildren, Diane M. Frank, James Kulla, Donna Montgomery , Larry, Keith and Patrick DeTomber. Bill's Life Celebration will include visiting on Wednesday July 8 from 4-8 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ, with a prayer service beginning at 7:30PM at the funeral home and military honors immediately following.
