Obituary of Samuel "Hank" Guerra

Samuel "Hank" Guerra of the Landing section of Roxbury Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, June 14th at the Compassionate Care Hospice Dover/St. Clare's Campus surrounded by his loving family. He was 85. Samuel was born on April 13, 1930 in Netcong, NJ to the late Salvatore and the late Marie Guerra. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and is a Combat Veteran of the Korean War. He worked on the New Jersey Transit Railroad in Port Morris, NJ in track maintenance for many years before retiring. Samuel lived in Landing, NJ for more than 40years. He was an avid sports fan especially the NY Yankees, the Oakland Raiders and the NY Giants. Samuel enjoyed sitting in his yard with his many friends and he also liked gardening and golf. He was a longtime member of the Parsippany Baptist Church. Samuel is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joanne (Burnside), his daughter, Kim LaManna and his son, Richard & his wife, Barbara. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren; Nicolette and Anthony, his brother, Lester and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased his two brothers, Anthony and John Guerra and five sisters, Theresa Fair, Vincenta Demeo, Mary Tedeschi and Virginia Roloson, Carmella Gentile. Samuel's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday, June 17th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a prayer service offered on Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home. Samuel will be entombed at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
